Raul Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz was born on the 10th of January 1993, in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was raised in Canovanas and Carolina. [4][5] His father guitar player Raul Ocasio, as well as his mother, backing vocalist Maria Nelly Ruiz, introduced him to his music influences, including Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Chris Brown. 6 For a number of years, Alejandro and his father lived in the continental United States, mainly Miami and New York City, where they were influenced by the R&B and dancehall genres. Alejandro and Anuel A.A., a friend of his Puerto Rican rapper are childhood close friends. They went to the same school and attended classes together. [9][10] Alejandro was a part of school talent shows as a child because he loves dancing. After completing high school, he was accepted in the University of Puerto Rico. He was a soccer player between the ages of six and twenty. He eventually resigned because he was unable to perform the way he expected. He later moved to Orlando to see if he could be selected by the Premier Development League (PDL). Rauw Alejandro is known for his Latin R&B, Latin Reggaeton and rhythmic pop music. Billboard stated that it has been instrumental in helping "set him aside from a growing category of reggaetones who lean towards pop". Presley and Jackson were influential early on, following by Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee and Chris Brown. He also cites Ciara as a musician who influenced him.
